The St. Bernard Dog Museum is located in the old military warehouse adjacent to the Roman amphitheatre in Martigny.
The museum is home to an array of artefacts that tell the story of the Great St. Bernard Hospice and Pass, and the legendary St. Bernard dogs form an integral part of the museum. Using state-of-the-art museography, the exhibition is dedicated to highlighting this legacy and promoting the famous St. Bernard dog as a universal icon.
The Ground Floor Entrance Level
Here you will find the dog kennels, leading out to a grassy enclosure where the dogs can play and exercise. The dogs can be seen inside the museum as well as in the park outside where visitors get a great view from the footbridge. Also on this level are the gift shop and restaurant.
The First Floor
Learn about the history of the St. Bernard dog and of the Great St. Bernard Hospice and Pass. A number of 19th century paintings and sculptures from the Brienz School are also featured. A film entitled << François the Pilgrim >>, produced especially for the museum, is on show.
The Second Floor
This area is reserved for temporary exhibitions.

You can select a table inside or relax outside on the shady terrace in the garden, opposite the amphitheatre. Meals from the grill, local speciality dishes and snacks are on offer. Private functions outside regular opening hours can be arranged on request.
